I tried to tell her: she sounds just fine
she said she can’t and won’t not believe me
but when I came the other night, I heard music…
a curious thing - that Sally won’t sang
the buxom heiress of dysfunction
but, she knows the rich touchstones (see her tell her saxophone)
faithless poets’ UV pens (she has thirty-two of them)
I press my ear against the bathroom door…
bolted books; wide wisdom -
these are Sally’s smoking guns
watch her smiling as she reads “Crying” out in Portuguese
what she’s hiding is her business; she insists she ‘caws’
but I’ve heard things coming through the bathroom door…

some things cosmic wish to spring from your breast through your seams
it’s tristed twicks of rods and cones: the phantom tons on peerless bones
a bothersome thing - that Sally won’t sing
the frenzied scholar; nubile fugitive
confident lust in the claw-marks cardinal; bookish in the sack
I think she thinks she’s grotesque, but watch her peaks tear through her chest…
…feel her cresting on the bathroom floor…
the silliest thing - Sally thinks she is in some way less than perfect
(such that she looks to me like I am in some way better)
the thing about you I’m trying to surmise can be explained
by the way you hold me when I am insane…
